Don't Panic
We're professionals here. First check the situations below and see if there's an answer to your problem. If not, THEN you can panick! Just kidding. You can contact us at the address at the bottom of the page.
Q: How does the schedule work? How many classes can I take on what days?
A: This works just like school. You get a 9 a.m. class, a 10 a.m. class and a 11 a.m. class. You take the same three classes, the same three subjects or badges each day of the Clinic. The Clinic sessions are on three consecutive Saturdays. In order to earn merit badges at the end of the Clinic, you should attend all three sessions of each class and complete all assignments and requirements during that time.
Q: What if I miss a day and don't come to the clinic all three Saturdays?
A: Don't, if you can help it. But absences happen. If you miss a day, it is up to you and your counselors to work out your assignments and complete the requirements for your merit badge.
Q: I lost my password and can't remember what it is.
A: The process is the same as for registration. Clicking on the "Lost Password" link in the left navigation panel just takes you to the Registration pages. There you can lookup your record by entering your name and birthdate.
Q: Do I need to bring my own blue cards, or will the Clinic provide them?
A: If you will review the Contract you had to agree to before you registered, you will find that scouts are responsible to obtain their own Merit Badge Applications, approved and signed by their scout leader. If you forget or lose your blue card after that, there *might* be someone there who can lend you a new one.
Q: The class I need is closed. Is there a way to still get in?
A: There are three possible solutions. There should still be room in the Merit Badge Midway. If you sign up for the Midway, one of the counselors there might be able to help you earn the merit badge you need. There is always the outside possibility that someone will drop out of the the class you need, so check back frequently to see if it opens up. Lastly, after the Clinic begins there's the possibility that some scouts will not show up who are on the roll. If so, you might be able to take their slot—with the counselor's approval. Remember, all classes are over-booked by about 33% to account for no-shows, so there's no guarantee you'll find a spot.
Q: I know I registered, but my unit can't find my record. What do I do?
A: You possibly entered your unit number incorrectly—or else gremlins changed it. In either case, send us a note at the e-mail address below, telling us your name, your correct unit number, and we'll fix it.
Q: Can I just attend with my friends from my troop, instead of the classes I signed up for?
A: There is nothing wrong with attending classes with your unit buddies, but changing classes without authorization does everyone a disfavor and may be rejected by the instructor. Secondly, if you and your friends become a discipline problem, you will be asked to leave, and then where will you be? Do yourself a favor: be prepared, and be courteous.
Q: Do I need to buy the Merit Badge booklet at the scout shop?
A: While we cannot require anyone to bring the booklets, we do encourage each scout to obtain them, as referred to in the Contract page. Your unit might have such booklets in their library. You can also find excellent worksheets and study materials at MeritBadge.com.
Q: I know someone who doesn't have Internet access. Can they just fill out a form or call you?
A: No, thank you. As soon as we open up registration to phones and paperwork, it quadruples our work load and compromises our ability to offer such a large and smooth-running program. It's better if a friend will help them get on-line, or if they can go on-line at the library or school and take care of it.
Q: It's broken! The web site is messing me up (and I think it's out to get me).
A: Calm down. We believe you. But if the system isn't working for you, it's probably doing the same thing to someone else as well. Help us out by describing the problem in as much detail as possible so that we can try to create the same behavior on our test machine. Then send your description via the e-mail address below.
